No year was as hectic as the seventh year that was for sure. The N.E.W.T.’s were approaching at a fast rate. I still had a heavy load for homework to do before tomorrow. I saw Hermione heading to the library and asked if I could come along. We both had the same assignments left to do so we searched for the right books together. We both agreed that potions should definitely be first on our to do list. We had a small pile of books before we were ready to start taking notes and eventually writing the report. I sighed as I read a confusing passage about Polyjuice potions. I was able to finish the effects rather quickly do to my first hand experience in the second year. I rolled up my many potions essays at the same time as Hermione.
The pile at our feet got larger as we took out books on the Potean Charm, with occasional help from Hermione on a confusing fact. I worked hard on my essay. Have been all year. In seventh year in some classes (Snape for example) you have to give a very detailed description on how something works and it has to be in small, neat writings. I put down my quill and rubbed my eyes. My notes on the other side of me were now a large stack. Hermione let out a huge sigh as she too finished her essay. All we had left was a major hippogriff essay for Care of Magical Creatures. We didn’t know much of what Hagrid had asked for but we had all we needed in the library.
“Harry? I miss Buckbeak a little bit.” Hermione said out of no where. I knew she meant Sirius. I said nothing and kept on looking through my book. I jotted down note after no. I was skimming through a passage for something I hadn’t known or read. I found something peculiar. The title read: Hippogriff but it was more on love.
“Hermione guess what!?” I almost shouted.
“Hmm?” She said turning her head towards me.
“Listen to this. To ensure an everlasting marriage newly weds go on hippogriff rides. This is because the hippogriff is the symbol for love. If you love someone or love them in the future then a hippogriff ride is for you. In some cases the couple has ridden the hippogriff with someone for fun not knowing the spell that happens when it takes flight. The couple will at least always stay in touch but mostly they will fall in love either by the spell or by free will.” I finished whispering quietly. Hermione stared remembering how we rode Buckbeak the hippogriff to save my godfather.
She turned around. It was from that time that I realize the reason I always wanted to be near her, always trusted her. She leaned her head on my shoulder clearly too shocked to say anything. I wrapped my arms gingerly around her and closed my eyes. I never wanted this moment to go away.
