In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, we have our first time view of the Ministry of Magic. In it, there was the Fountain of Magical Brethren, a huge collection of golden statues and I quote:
"Halfway down the hall was a fountain. A group of golden statues, larger than life-size, stood in the middle of a circular pool. Tallest of them all was a noble-looking wizard with his wand pointing straight up in the air. Grouped around him were a beautiful witch, a centaur, a goblin and a house-elf. The last three were all looking adoringly up at the witch and wizard."
In the end, due to Dumbledore's doing, the statues came to life and aided in protecting Harry as well as defeating some Death Eaters. The statues of the handsome wizard and the beautiful witch, I believe, can represent Harry & Hermione. Harry, because the statue of the wizard came to protect him. The beautiful witch could and can be associated with any other witch other than Hermione but I believe it leans strongly towards her. Why? Remember that grouped with the witch and wizard were a centaur, a house-elf and a goblin. The couple associated with these magical creatures are Harry & Hermione.
In Sorcerer's Stone, Harry rode on Firenze and met with the other centaurs. In the fifth book, Harry & Hermione met with the centaurs (who unwittingly saved their lives and later, endangered them) in the Dark Forest. In Chamber of Secrets, Harry's life was saved (or put in danger) by Dobby, the house elf, who in the end, helped Harry a great deal. Hermione is very determined in caring for the plight of these "poorly treated" creatures, trying in vain to free all of them. She even went as far as making a mini-club of her own, the S.P.E.W. (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare). As for goblins, Harry has been in Gringgots bank were he was surrounded by goblins. And if I remember correctly, Hermione is particularly good with charms and their charms teacher, Professor Flitwick, is I think....a goblin. If I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me and send me some detail on how Hermione is associated with the goblins. Or perhaps, she is yet to be associated with them. And here's another quote:
The doors slid open and they stepped out into the now
almost-deserted Atrium. Eric the watchwizard was hidden behind his Daily
Prophet again. They had walked straight past the golden fountain before
Harry remembered.
"Wait..." he told Mr. Weasley, and, pulling his moneybag
from his pocket, he turned back to the fountain.
He looked up into the handsome wizard's face, but close-to
Harry thought he looked rather weak and foolish. The witch was wearing a vapid
smile like a beauty contestant, and from what Harry knew of goblins and
centaurs, they were most unlikely to be caught staring so soppily at humans of
any description. Only the house-elf's attitude of creeping servility looked
convincing. With a grin at the thought of what Hermione would say if she could
see the statue of the elf, Harry turned his moneybag upside-down and emptied
not just ten Galleons, but the whole contents into the pool.
See? It was the thought of Hermione that made Harry spill out all his money on the fountain. And to think those were Galleons!!! Other than that, I think the witch and wizard of the Fountain of Magical Brethren could represent the fact that although they (Harry & Hermione) are not perfect, they may just be the couple to stand above all and bring everlasting peace between the magical beings other humans.
