More often than not, JK Rowling introduces Harry as a
bespectacled boy. Of course, we all know Harry wears glasses. If his eye
problem was inborn or something that developed through years of living in a
dark cupboard (which is very likely), we don't really know. But then why does
JK really implement on Harry wearing glasses? This theory may hold the answer.
In the first book, Harry's glasses were broken because Dudley had once punched him. To hold the specs together, he stuck it with tape. When he and Hermione met on the train to Hogwarts, she fixed Harry's glasses by saying "Occulus Reparo!"
In the second book (or movie), Harry traveled from the Burrow to Diagon Alley via the Floo powder. Unfortunately, the powder tickled his nose causing him to say his destination wrong. He turns up in Knockturn Alley and was found by Hagrid. He had broken his glasses when he shot out from the fireplace. When he and Hermione had their little reunion back in Diagon Alley, she was quick to point out Harry's ruined specs. She waved her wand and again, recited "Occulus Reparo".
In the third book, Harry was off for a quidditch match with Hufflepuff. It was very stormy that time and he wasn't sure if he would be able to see the snitch clearly. Fortunately, Hermione came up with the answer. Waving her wand at Harry's specs, she chanted "Occulus, Impervius!" And so, the rain never got on Harry's glasses...like he was wearing goggles or something.
In the third movie, Hermione was the one who gave Harry his glasses back...twice. Once in the train after Harry fainted, and the other one, in the hospital wing after the quidditch match. Try looking in the video clips section for those moments.
In the fifth book, during a stormy day of quidditch practice, Angelina asked Harry what spell he used to keep his glasses clear of rain. Harry was quick to point out that "Hermione did it", still not forgetting that fact, though two years had passed since then.
So where exactly am I getting at? Harry is the Gryffindor Seeker. In terms of romance, he's a seeker of love. And who's the one who always tries to make his vision clear? Hermione of course! As for now, he's still seeking and hopefully, he'll soon see that love is right in front of him. And oh, for the seeking part, you can check out the Mars & Venus theory at Symbolic Flight 'coz this is somewhat connected.
And remember the "Accio" Charm Hermione had taught Harry to do in the 4th book? The charm makes objects to fly towards you right? So, in terms of romance, it's like Hermione saying to Harry : "Come to me...." Get my drift? Hihihi!
Why did I connect the specs with Harry's being a seeker when it's like totally way out? Here's the thing. James Potter was a chaser, right? In terms of romance, who was he always chasing after? Lily Evans of course! Seems his vision had cleared up and he sees his target perfectly. Get the picture?
